We are lucky to have a great location to play at for almost all of our concerts, Glenbard South High School. The auditorium there is still relatively new and fits our needs well. The stage is spacious the seating is plentiful, with a good deal of handicap seating, and features a reliable air-conditioning system for hot summer nights. Also important is the availability of parking, which is more than enough for the audience and the performers. The whole parking lot is also well lit. The school is kind enough to provide the services of the custodial staff and a lighting technician for our rehearsals and concerts, ensuring that the evenings run smoothly. So, next time you come to see us, be sure to direct some of your applause to the administration and staff for the continued use of their facilities. Without them we would not have any concerts to put on for you.
Glenbard South is one of the four schools that make up District 87, the others being Glenbards West, North, and East. A fair number of our younger performers go or have gone to the Glenbard Schools. Each has a wonderful music department that educates these students in music, and makes them have fun while doing so. Be sure to thank the music educators too for their contributions: to the Symphony, specifically; and to the world, generally – for music and musicians enrich us all.
